Overview
Gurez is, to put it simply, surreal. Cast your eye in one direction and you see tall brown mountains. Look over to the other side and you see green meadows, a river snaking through and houses dotted red and brown on the landscape. You will see snow capped peaks in the distance, a river that mysteriously changes colour from blue to grey, sunsets that render the sky gold and pink, flowers that spring wildly orange, white and yellow. Gurez is like a painting, and its fitting that its one of the remotest parts of the country – for one should really have to go some distance to see something beautiful”
Since we at On His Own Trip have been to Kashmir so many times, and explored large parts of it, we have curated this trip with a lot of thought and love and bring to you a very unique Kashmir in this trip. On this trip from June 7-14, we have the beautiful Gurez Valley with its Ladakh-like mountains, a peak named after a famous poetess, springs and rivers, shooting stars and quaint villages, and people who are super simple, happy and very friendly. In summer, Kashmir is blooming with flowers, its meadows are teeming with life, and the rivers are surging and you can’t help but gush at how green, how wild, and how lovely it is.
