Dipannita first travelled with me to Meghalaya in August 2023. I was surprised to see how effortlessly she connected with everyone on the very first day, especially the girls!

When I asked her where she stayed, she told us she had a house in Colaba or some South Bombay suburb. Trust me, there is nobody less South Bombay in her mannerisms than Dipannita. She is the exact anti of the stereotype – desi, tomboyish, tapori, a monkey.

A yoga teacher by profession, every day early morning, she would do an informal Yoga session, and half the group would join her. Let’s not get into how she twisted and killed my body on a later trip, calling it “stretches”. A rugby opposition team would have been less brutal on me 😉

A mountain goat, she would easily run up and down mountains. Even during the cliff jump, she did not think much and jumped off a 20-25 foot cliff into the water happily.

Dipannita has a high emotional quotient and has a lot of warmth in her heart. As I saw more and more people like her, I asked her to lead trips for us.

She has already lead trips to Indonesia, Bhutan, Meghalaya and Tawang for OHOT.
