As opposed to dating websites, or two hour meet-up events, I feel travelling for a week together is a far better way of trying to find someone you could vibe with. It gives you a much better insight into someone’s personality, what makes them tick, how they are with others etc.

But what I didn’t expect was to see so many trippers take it so seriously.
While leading the trips, I could see a lot of these participants looking for something meaningful. In a world where causal dating is rampant, here were 23-24 trippers out of 40, wanting something deeper.

I saw some girl trippers factoring in age, intent. They wanted the boys to take some initiative. From the boy’s side, I could see that quite a few found it hard to impress a girl they liked. But they tried.

Some girls couldn’t hide their strong emotional expectations. Not every boy knows how to be smooth.
Maybe these trips are also about learning and unlearning.

Many people can brush off these trips saying, “Oh I don’t want to go on a trip where the intent is on finding someone.” Maybe these trips are also about gaining perspective, about being a little more thoughtful about others, about looking a little below the surface. Not just romantically, but as human beings.
