It was towards the end of the Meghalaya trip. Sep 2024. On a whim, I asked Divyansh to leave his seat and come sit with me in the front.
We ended up having a two hour long discussion on life, on slowness, on not chasing money.
That day, I never knew then that I’d be seeing him on 4 trips in the next 4-5 months. He booked our November Antarctica and Argentina trips, Russia December, South Africa March. In between all this, he also travelled to Nepal, Uganda, and did a dozen fishy Mumbai Delhi trips 😉
With every trip, I noticed his ability to initiate conversations with people he liked, increased. The boy who hardly opened his mouth in Meghalaya, looked more confident now.
And me, well I love him. His calmness, his soft spoken nature, manners, is attractive, even surprising. We share a mutual love for mountains and silences, of quiet moments, of not clicking a lot of pictures of ourselves. Hiking, bounding up and down mountains swiftly comes naturally to us.
I find it super easy to share space with him, be it sharing a room, or talking about anything.
Divyansh is on a journey, maybe not just to find himself, but to absorb as much as he can from the world, from people. Hopefully, we shall keep seeing each other from time to time, and find more mountains to climb and sit quietly on.
