Bhutan Visa Made Simple
Planning a trip to Bhutan? Here’s everything you need to know in a clear, no-stress way before you go.
Documents You’ll Need
Getting your Bhutan visa is quite straightforward. Just keep these basics ready:
-
A valid passport or Voter ID card
-
Your hotel booking confirmation
-
Your travel itinerary (even a simple day-wise plan works)
Processing Time
The Bhutan entry permit is usually processed in 5–6 business days through the Bhutanese authorities when applying in advance (if you choose pre-permit).
If you apply on arrival, permits are issued the same day but may take time depending on the queue.
How to Apply
There’s no e-visa and no embassy process for Indians.
You can either:
-
Get your entry permit on arrival at Phuentsholing, Paro Airport, or Gelephu
OR -
Apply in advance through a registered Bhutan tour operator who can pre-arrange your permit.
Visa Fees
There is no visa fee for Indian travelers.
You’ll only have to pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) as per Bhutan’s policy. It costs Rs. 1,200 per person, per night for Indian citizens.
