Costa Rica is the 63rd country I travelled to, and am so so happy that I chose to go there.
When I was looking at countries in Central America to go to, before beginning my Argentina – Antarctica trip, the moment I read that Costa Rica is the most biodiverse country in the world, per sq. km, I just knew I had to go there.
It’s a nature lover ‘s paradise. It’s got gorgeous mountains, it’s got dense jungles with clouds streaming out of everywhere; it’s got volcanoes and sexy beaches. It’s got waterfalls and also the best landscapes a road trip can show you.
It also has two of the most adorable creatures – Costa Rica is teeming with sloths and toucans. I cant tell you how happy I felt when I saw my first sloth. It was, as most sloths do, hugging a tree and just being stationary, just moving a toe occasionally to scratch himself.
Toucans are among the most colourful birds in the world and seeing them with their long yellow beaks made me coo in delight.
For seven days, I drove around this beautiful country in the peak of the monsoon season. I got drenched every day, I saw birds and animals sauntering on the roads as if they had never seen a human; I hiked into jungles and volcanoes, and reached Waterfalls that were shown in the first Jurassic Park movie.
Oh Costa Rica, how I fell in love with you.
