1. River Rafting
This activity calls out the ones who get an adrenaline rush hearing the word ‘risk and adventure’. The thrilling experience of river rafting in Spiti and Pin rivers is for sure an experience of a lifetime. The rafting covers a distance of 36 kilometrers starting from Nadang to Sumdo. The snowy mountains, majestic hilltop monasteries and alluring views around are an absolute delight to the eyes. Between July to August is the best time to try river rafting in Spiti valley.
2. Camping at Chandratal
Situated at 4,300 meters in the Himalayas, this lake form a crescent shape which makes it unique and a place worth experiencing in Spiti. Added to that, there are camps set up by the riverside where you can spend the night by the lake with spectacular views around. The best part is the star gazing at night. You can just sit and spot a zillion stars in the night sky trying to find constellations, and if you’re lucky, you might catch a shooting star!
3. Trek To Dhankar Lake
There is absolutely no other activity that blends peace and adventure as well as the trek to Dhan Kar lake does! This lake is situated on a cliff at 4,270 meters, right above the Dhankar Monastery. It’s time to take out your trekking gears! The trek can be a bit Challenging but the views of the lake more than compensates for all the trouble.
If you want to tick that archeological bone of yours, you can go fossil hunting to collect some souvenirs. Or, visit the village of Ziu and numerous monasteries in the valley.
