Mirissa has one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. With the laid back atmosphere and palm trees, it is a perfect holiday place. Do you know is one the very few places in South Asia where you can go on a sighting tour to spot whales? This coastal town should definitely be on your bucket list when you plan for that Sri Lanka trip.
Want to know the best places to eat there? Don’t worry, we have prepared a list.
Zephyr Restaurant & Bar: Zephyr is the fun and vibrant place on the Mirissa strip. Sitated next to the beach, this place has that laidback vibe by the day which is needed on a beach vacation. You can either sit in the restaurant or grab one of the colorful bean bags outside. Try out the burgers and their prawn curry with pol sambol and rice.
After dark, the place turns into one of the most happening places in the town giving a very club-ey vibe. With fairy lights and candles as their setting, this is a perfect place to spend your night, dancing to the music with your friends.
Dewmini Roti Shop: This is the place to go if you want to taste the local food. Even though, there are a lot of shops around who sell the famous Sri Lankan roti and kottu, Dewmini is still our favourite.
You can choose to have a hearty Sri lankan breakfast here or come here during the lunch hour. We recommend the chocolate and banana roti, as well as the chocolate and peanut butter roti. You can also opt for the more traditional Sri Lankan dishes such as dhal, curries and devilled chicken.
Papa Mango: Papa mango is one of the most famous restaurants in Mirissa. The property itself is an absolute haven with the beach just at your reach. The overall atmosphere is uber chilled out. The garden area is great for lounging/relaxing throughout the evenings.
The place is famous for the sea food. Try their lobster burger and a nice cocktail. You should visit the place in the evenings to watch the sunset while munching.
Petti Petti: This restaurant is the new kid in the block and has gained popularity among the locals as well as the tourists in the area. The restaurant is decorated very tastefully. It opens up the beach and also has an indoor swimming pool where you can take a dip after spending your day in the hot sun.
We loved the traditional Sri Lankan thali here. You can also try the coconut shrimp and the beef burger here. They are the crowd pleasers. The setup is eco friendly where they use metal straws, glass bottles and no plastics are being used.
