SOLANG VALLEY

Location: 14 kilometers to the North West of the main town of Manali, it is located on the way to Rohtang.

Best time to visit: October to March is the best time to enjoy winter sports in the valley, the whole of it is covered with snow during that time of the year. March to June is also a pleasant time to enjoy the sun during the day and the cool breeze in the evenings.
The place is one of the most famous in Himachal Pradesh, a personal favorite for adventure enthusiasts. It has a lot of things to offer to all the Adrenaline junkies out there, parachuting to paragliding, horse riding to driving mini-open jeeps especially available for tourists of all age groups. During winters, Solang valley is covered with snow, making skiing a popular sport here, with training institutes and trainers located in the valley to supervise skiers and train beginners. Did the snow melted? No worries, now you can go and do Zorbing. This sport takes advantage of the slopes of the valley. JOGINI FALLS

Location: In the beautiful Valley of Manali, this place is about 3 kms. away from the bustling town and around 2 kms. away from the famous Vashisht Temple.

Best time to visit: Between March and May and during the winters between October and February.
This spot is popular due to its trek from Vasisht temple, another place worth visiting. The way here is through pine trees and orchards, to the mesmerizing Jogini Waterfalls cascading from a height of 160 feet. The dazzling view of River Beas and the snow-dusted peaks of Rohtang enchant you. This small trek with a lot of small streams, nature’s beauty and gorgeous destination is a complete treat for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
The stirring beauty and the picture perfect view is worth the 3 hours it takes to reach here. Here you will come across restaurants serving local snacks with a piping hot cup of Chai. Thronged by couples, the captivating waterfall is also considered as one of the most romantic attractions in Manali. SETHAN

Location: The Buddhist village of Sethan is located at about 12 kms. from Manali.

Best time to visit: January to April is the best time to visit if you want to snowboard or ski or partake in a winter trek. And June to October the place is ideal for hiking, camping, exploring and finding yourself in the wilderness. 
Sethan transforms and transcends into an enchanted fairy-take land, blanketed by snow in the winter months. It provides a perfect canvas to learn and master skiing and snowboarding. Summers have their own charm here. Get your adrenaline pumping and climb rocks of granite and gneiss, go bouldering! There are multiple spots all along the valley established for you to test your strength, stamina and grit.

SISSU VILLAGE

Location: This breathtaking village is around 40 kms. from Manali.

Best time to visit: You will get a lesser crowd in between March to June. And if you want to explore a snow-covered terrain then October- February is the best time.
When you are in the mountains the main attraction is nature, the mountains, waterfalls, rivers, snow, and green meadows. This is all you would find in Sissu. The famous Gyephan peak is visible in its splendor in the background. The fields are green with potato, peas, barley, and buckwheat.  You can see wild roses and other alpine flowers in different colors of red, white, yellow, blue spread on the slopes. Sissu is also a beautiful camping site due to the lush greenery and peaceful location. Sissu Waterfall, a famous tourist destination, is on the other side of the river Chandra. You can see the waterfall cascading from the high cliffs in a spectacular fashion with greenery all around which makes the location more mesmerizing. One feels refreshed and at peace with the beauty of nature. Sissu lake, a man made beauty and halt for Siberian ducks and geese is a tourist destination worth visiting with lots of eateries in the surrounding area. 

ROHTANG PASS

Location: Rohtang Pass is located around 51 kilometers from Manali and takes about 2 hours to travel via the Leh-Manali Highway.

Best time to visit: The best time to visit Rohtang Pass is during the warmer months between May to November, when the temperature remains high enough to enjoy the outdoors and explore trekking.
The Rohtang Pass or Rohtang La is a mountain pass on the eastern side of the Himalayan Pir Panjal range, located at an elevation of 3978 meters above sea level. Rohtang Pass is an ideal trekking destination, especially for experienced trekkers who will surely enjoy the snow-capped routes here. This place boasts of a splendid white beauty and is marked by glaciers and waterfalls.

One can venture on a number of treks here, such as the 117-kilometer-long Manali-Lahaul pass, or the trek from Gulaba to Bhrigu Lake; depending on your inner explorer! But if you can not do trekking worry not, one can also enjoy a number of other adventure activities here, such as sledding or mountain biking. The sporting opportunities, white splendor and mesmerizing mountains of Rohtang makes it one of the most popular places to visit near Manali.
