Ocean breeze, salty toes, beachy waves. I am typing this while sitting in my home and already missing the sea. If you are someone who is also craving a beach vacation but don’t want to go to the overcrowded beaches of Goa, if you want to spend some time standing in the water and gazing at a beautiful sunset without a million people around you trying to capture the perfect selfie, then I’ll let you in the secret. There is a perfect beach for you in Karnataka. Want to know more? Okay, but sshhh keep it a secret.

Kodi Bengre Beach or Delta beach lies in the small sleepy village of Kodi Bengre near Udipi. The beach is a beautiful secret and not a lot of people know about it. This means you can enjoy walking on the golden sand and jumping with the waves without a big crowd around you. Once you get here, you will be amazed by the natural beauty that surrounds you. The secluded state of the beach makes it a peaceful, serene and quiet spot to spend an afternoon.

This is also the point where River Suvarna joins the Arabian Sea and forms islands covered with mangrove forests. While driving here, you will see the vast expanse of Arabian Sea on one side and River Suvarna on the other. You can take a boat ride into the mangroves which are home to a variety of flora and fauna.

The clear water with waves about 3-4 feet high, makes it an ideal surfing spot. Shaka Surf Club is a surfing school located near the beach. Jump on that surfing board and ride the waves!

Delta Beach also features a small port for fishing boats to dock. Keep an eye out for the fishermen casting their nets away, getting the fresh catch of the day. Or you can visit the quaint fishing villages and take a peek into their lives.

The beach is for someone who craves a pristine environment and solitude. Not to forget the scintillating sunset it offers. This hidden beach in Udupi is perfect for a day trip with fresh seafood and beach bumming.
