Nearest airport is at Thiruvananthapuram located around 45 km away from the beach town. Once you reach Trivandrum, you can easily get to Varkala by train, bus or a cab.

BY ROAD

Varkala is accessible through buses from both Kochi and Trivandrum. You will find KSRTC buses in abundance running within the city from the major bus stands.

There are no direct buses available from Bangalore to reach Varkala. So, you need to reach either Trivandrum or Kovalam first, which will take you around 12-14 hours. Once you reach Trivandrum, you can easily get to Varkala by Train. The journey from Trivandrum to Varkala by train takes around 2-2.5 hours.

BY RAIL

Varkala Railway Station, at a distance of less than 5 km serves as the ideal stoppage to reach Varkala Beach by train. Though it doesn’t have a huge network of trains, still it serves a convenient rail route to connect the city with other parts of Kerala and major cities such as Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Kochi, Bangalore and Mangalore.
