Thekkady has good connectivity with various cities via road. The highway connects Thekkady with cities like Kochi (165 km), Kottayam (108 km), Kothamangalam (110 km), Munnar (90 km) and Trivandrum (206 km). You will find comfy deluxe buses as well as private cabs to reach there.

While on the road to Thekkady, do not forget to keep your camera ready to click pictures of the scenic views. Also, do remember to take an extra 10 to 20 litres of petrol or diesel with you in case you run out of fuel as there is no fuel station nearby.

Also, the state owned buses are the heartbeat of Kerela and run to all corners of the state. You can take state buses or private taxi services to reach here.


Thekkady doesn’t have an airport of its own. The closest airports to Thekkady are Madurai (140 km) and Cochin International Airport (190 km). You can hire a cab from either of these airports to get to Thekkady. One can also use the state transport bus services operated by the Kerala State Government to get there.


Thekkady also lacks a train station which means that directly reaching the city by train is out of the question. The nearest train station is in Kottayam which is roughly 110 kms away. Connected to other big junctions in the area, you can reach Kottayam from any Indian city including the ones that are fairly far like Delhi and Kolkata. You can hire a cab from Kottayam to get to Thekkady, or even board a government or private run bus.
