Pelling is a small hill town of western Sikkim perched at an altitude of 6,800ft with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga peaks. It is a small hill town and is located at a distance of 131km from Gangtok and 10 km from Geyzing, one of the main towns in the Western Sikkim. It is very well connected by transport and jeep services.
Unlike other major cities of Sikkim, it is slightly tricky to reach Pelling, especially if you don’t have your own vehicle. There aren’t any buses headed directly to Pelling so, you will need to first reach the Geyzing (district headquarters) before you travel further to this small hill town.

BY ROAD:
As I said earlier, the first point that you will need to reach is Geyzing. You can reach Geyzing via shared cabs, buses, or private taxis. It will take you about 5.5 – 6 hours to reach Pelling from Siliguri/Bagdogra or Gangtok.
Pre-paid reserved taxis are available at both NJP and Bagdogra. You will also get SNT buses from Siliguri (SNT Bus Stand) which will get you to Geyzing. From there, it will be another 30-40 minutes before you can get down at the Pelling town. You can get buses and shared jeeps back to Siliguri from Geyzing itself.
Another budget friendly option is shared jeeps which are also occasionally available from Siliguri taxi stand (near Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminal). Also, remember that the last direct shared taxi will leave before 2 p.m. so plan your journey accordingly.
BY AIR:
Located 160 kms from the town, Bagdogra Airport is the nearest to Pelling. Well-connected with all major cities, there are several flights operating from this spot. Once you reach the airport, you can easily hire a cab or take a taxi to reach Pelling.
BY TRAIN:
New Jalpaiguri Railway Station situated 52 kms away from Pelling is the nearest railway station. After getting down at NJP, one can take a shared cab or a taxi to reach Pelling. One can also take a cab or taxi from Siliguri, which is 6 kms away from the railway station.
