Munsiyari is a comely hamlet situated in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state. It is the most picturesque place you will ever see.

The picturesque hamlet is at an elevation of about 7,200 ft and is a starting point of various treks in that area.

Pantnagar, in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, serves as the nearest airport to Munsiyari lying at a distance of 249 km. Taxis are easily available from the airport to get there. It has high frequency of flights to and from most of the significant cities in and around Uttarakhand.

Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh is the other option, however, the flight are not that frequent from this airport.

The nearest international airport is at New Delhi around 600 km from Munsiyari.


Munsiyari is connected to many major cities of Uttarakhand as well as neighbouring states via motorable roads.

State-owned buses and private buses run regularly from Delhi and other states. Since the journey from Delhi to Munsiyari is quite long, it is advisable to break your journey at various stops and finally change the bus from either Almora or Pithoragarh from where you can hire a local taxi to reach there.

However, if you opt for a private vehicle, breaking the journey at various points along the way is recommended.


Kathgodam (275 km) and Tanakpur (286 km) are the nearest Railway Station to reach Munsiyari. These stations are well connected to many major cities via good rail network. Cabs and buses are available at both the stations to reach Munsiyari.
