- Chopta Tungnath trek – Undoubtedly, the primary reason why one heads to Chopta is to take the Chopta Tungnath trek. Some take the trek for their pious religious beliefs, some for the taste of adventure and some simply for the abundance of nature that it lets you befriend during this trek!
- Chandrashila Trek – This trek is a part of the same Chopta Tungnath trek. It lies a kilometre further ahead of the Chopta Tungnath top. So, if you’re feeling pumped after reaching Chopta Tungnath top, push yourself and pay the crystal clear lake a visit as well. Please note though that heavy winter often causes the path to the lake to be blocked with a lot of snow, so, make sure to check the weather predictions in advance.
- Sari Village – If a simple and quiet village visit is something that intrigues you then you can head over to Sari to interact with the locals and have a rustic time.
How To Reach:
Dehradun airport is the best pick if you’re planning on flying down and then starting your road journey to Chopta. I suggest not to fly down to Delhi and then travel by road because while that is an option that adds a lot of road travel time to a trip that is already packed with considerable commute. Starting from Dehradun lessens the time, making it more comfortable for you.
Haridwar Railway Station located at a distance of 236 kms is the nearest option if you’re looking to travel by train. The journey time from there to Chopta is approximately 9 hours.
Rishikesh or Dehradun are the better connected cities that help you connect to roadways that lead you to Chopta.
