How to reach from Bagdogra to Gangtok?

The conventional way to reach Gangtok is by road from Bagdogra Airport. Or if the rails interest you more than the air, you can take a train to New Jalpaiguri (NJP). The only drawback to this is the excruciating 5 hour long road journey along the winding uphill road from Bagdogra to Gangtok will leave you exhausted, hampering your vacation spirit. Timings:

Bagdogra to Gangtok: 2:30pm (duration: 35 minutes)

Gangtok to Bagdogra: 11am (duration: 35 minutes)

Rate: 

Per persona rate: 3,500/- (as per September 2021)

Luggage Limit:

You can carry only 10kg of luggage per person. However, the extra luggage can be sent to Gangtok by taxi. But to avoid missing of baggage and theft, it is advised to travel light if you wish to avail the helicopter services.

The flights are subjected to weather conditions and reservations by VIPs. And timings can and do change. You should book your tickets in advance and not wait till you reach Bagdogra airport as the seats get filled quickly too. To check availability, you can call up an STDC number in Gangtok between 10am to 5pm ideally.

Once you reach the helipad at Gangtok, the town is a short taxi ride from there, around 4.2kms. Taxis will be available outside the helipad.
