Paro is our favourite town in Bhutan. This quaint little town has an old world charm which draws tourists from all around the world. The market place is small and you can walk through the lanes, stopping to buy souvenirs or grabbing a hot cuppa.

Today we bring to you our favourite cafes from here:

Mountain cafe: Located right in centre of the town, this cafe is a hit among both the locals and the tourists. The menu is written on a chalk board near the entrance where the staff greets you with a smile and warmth we have only seen in Bhutan. The seating is comfortable and enough for a large group. The cafe serves not only Bhutanese and Continental cuisine but is popular among Indians because of the lip smacking Indian food choices it provides.

We love the egg cheese burger and pao bhaji here. Down them with a big glass of blueberry smoothie. Bliss!

Brioche Cafe: Do you have a sweet tooth? Do you like cozy cafes? Brioche is your answer. When you enter the cafe, it feels like you are in a cozy living area of a cottage with sofas and arm chairs sprawling around. They have a wide variety of freshly baked patisseries, pies, tarts, cookies, macaroons, croissants or cakes you name it, they have it all. They have a good selection of coffees and teas as well. Bring a book, grab a cuppa and order a dessert. You can spend a while evening in this pretty cafe.

Champaca Cafe: Located just next to Brioche cafe in the main market area, this double story cafe is a perfect place for a lazy lunch. The place offers plenty of choices of healthy meals and baked goods. Do try the steamed momos here. Choose a table by the window and you can sip on your coffee while watching the world go by. The place also has a cozy private compartment, a good idea for that first date. What say?
