Lachen marks the base station of numerous trekking areas in North Sikkim including Green Lake, Kanchenjunga National Park treks. This small town in North Sikkim have the most spectacular snow covered mountain views all around. With a bountiful of apple orchards, peaches and apricots, Lachung is the perfect tourist spot. Situated at a height of 17,100 feet above the sea level, Gurudongmar Lake, located in North Sikkim is one of the fifteen highest lakes in the world. The enticing scenic beauty, the beautiful view of Mount Siniolchu and Kanchenjunga from the lake is definitely a sight to behold. The Gurudongmar Lake has a great religious significance and is believed to have healing powers. Many tourists carry the water from this lake on their way back.

Famously called as the ‘Valley of Flowers’, Yumthang Valley is a rare and exotic location with yaks, healing hot springs and green meadows. Serves as a paradise for nature lovers, Yumthang valley is located 140kms to the north of Gangtok and is home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sactuary which has over 24 species of Rhododendron flowers. Yumthang Valley is closed for tourists in the month of December to march as it receives heavy snowfalls. The ideal season to visit this valley is from April to Mid-June, which is when the Rhododendrons bloom.
