The beautiful capital city of Manipur will mesmerize you with the hills, forests, valley and rivers. But what about the food? Worry not. We have jotted down our favourite places for you. Have a look:

Forage

Starting the list with this aesthetically pleasing restaurant which will lift your spirits the moment you enter it. The interior is unique and you will spot things like coconut shell planters and rustic wooden chandeliers and wooden tissue holders. The cafe believes in minimal use of plastic so they have reusable stainless steel tea infusers and sipping straws. Even the takeaway wares are biodegradable.

Forage serves different kinds of food with a local twist. They specialize in Mediterranean and Northeast inspired cuisines. For the region’s good traditional dishes, go for the “Neighbourhood Menu”. And don’t forget to order kombucha. You will love it.

The House by Route 39

Located in the outskirts of Imphal, this is one of the trendiest places to eat in the city. The ambience is really nice with fairy lights and dream catchers adorning the walls. The menu is very typical of a cafe consisting of sandwiches, burgers, salads, wraps and a range of drinks. Food options are limited but you will love whatever you order. The place is packed during weekends especially on Saturdays when the cafe hosts live bands and events.

Laxmi Kitchen

If you want to have traditional Manipuri food then you should not miss Laxmi Kitchen. This place is a household name and you will see the locals raving about it. The ambience is decent but the finger licking and ‘easy on pocket’ food has made the place so popular. It is only open for lunch so definitely have a scrumptious thali here on your visit to Imphal. Try to go a little early so that you don’t have to wait in line.

Char-Koal

As the name suggests, this is a barbeque joint and one of a kind in the city. The menu is extensive and the place is especially famous for its non veg items. But the highlight is the roof top restaurant from where you can have a good view of the city and nearby mountains. The ambience is very romantic so if you want to go on a date, you know the place.
